What's New in ProMax 7.0

A major release packed with new tools, expanded capabilities, quality of life improvements, and performance enhancements.

Data Exchange: Real-Time Connectivity

The Data Exchange component enables ProMax to directly link with databases such as:

  • PI
  • OPC-HDA
  • ODBC-compatible databases
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Custom data solutions

The purpose of this feature is to make a digital twin of your actual facility, allowing real-time predictions of your operations, allowing operators to keep everything on track, empowering them with information to make the right decisions during troubleshooting, and allowing engineers to dig deep to figure out where bottlenecks are and where they can optimize operations further.

New enhancements include:

  • Parallel import/export for dramatically faster data handling
  • Configurable Past Run Folder for automated file storage at the end of execution

New & Enhanced Modeling Tools

Depressurization Block: used to size a relief valve for a vessel to safely depressurize in the event of a hazardous event (e.g. fire). Also useful for certain operations that involve deinventorying a vessel or pipe for maintenance purposes. The new version offers a modern replacement for the Property Stencil, offering improved functionality and ease of use.

Adsorber Block: These beds are used to virtually remove all contaminants or undesirable compounds from something we’d like to process further. A common example is removing all humidity from a gas to ensure ice doesn’t form when we try to cool it down below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. The new update now features bed definition, rating capabilities, and adsorption isotherms for more robust adsorption modeling.

New Analyses

  • Corrosion: Used to predict the corrosion rate which helps inform the user if they need to make the equipment thicker to survive longer, or to tweak the operations to make it less corrosive
  • Liquid Spill Emissions: In the event of a spill, this tool assists in estimating the evaporation rate and consequent emissions, essential for compliance with environmental regulations.

Control Valve Selector Tool: Available in both the valve block and analysis environments to streamline valve selection with easy filter-able lists to figure out what size fits the best.

Optimization Tool: Smarter, Faster, More Flexible

The Optimization Tool empowers users to:

  • Define objective functions using ProMax properties, Excel cells, or mathematical expressions
  • Adjust multiple variables to locate local minima or maxima
  • Integrate seamlessly with Data Exchange for dynamic, data driven optimization workflows

New improvements include:

  • Additional tools for rearranging variables and constraints
  • A “hold” function for easier model setup
  • Descriptions for constraints to improve clarity and documentation

ProMax 7.0 expands its solvent library with:

  • Huntsman JEFFTREAT® MP
  • Evonik CAPLUS®

Pipeline Network Solver Tool

A dedicated tool designed to simplify the creation of pipeline solvers and specifiers, improving workflow efficiency for pipeline modeling. This tool allows you to give the system high level goals and the tool will automatically calculate everything else.

Solver

Solver progress can now be plotted to aid in diagnosing convergence issues.

Separator Rating

This new update allows ProMax to test if a vessel is the right size for the job in addition to sizing it from scratch.
