BRE 700: Lecture Series – Sustainable Hydrogen Technologies
This lecture series covers grey and green hydrogen production. Specific topics include steam-methane reforming,
water gas shift, and electrolysis of water. Each process is discussed with emphasis on common specifications,
rules-of-thumb, and product requirements. Access to ProMax is not needed for this session. The lecture series is hosted
over MS Teams, and information on how to connect to the session will be provided after registration. For more information

Prerequisites:
Methods:
- Instructor-led demonstrations
Agenda
- Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) – Introduces the basic concepts of ProMax, including how to draw and configure processes quickly and neatly. Demonstrates methods for displaying process information directly on the flowsheet. Introduces reactor blocks and provides guidance on how to properly set up and specify a Gibbs Minimization Reactor.
- Water-Gas Shift (WGS) – Expands on the previous exercise by constraining a Gibbs Minimization reaction. Additionally, presents ProMax functionality regarding multiple flowsheets and environments within the same project.
- Green Hydrogen – Introduces the inputs required to setup the new electrolysis block in ProMax version 6.0.
