BRE 600: Webinar – Capturing CO2 from Syngas

Upcoming Sessions

DatesLocation
9/23/2025 - 9/23/2025Online - - Europe

This webinar explores the key steps involved in capturing carbon dioxide from syngas, focusing on the technical aspects relevant to high-pressure gas streams. Syngas, produced from processes such as Steam Methane Reforming (SMR), coal/biomass gasification, or autothermal reforming, contains a substantial amount of CO2 that must be removed to purify hydrogen or ammonia feedstocks, comply with low-carbon fuel standards, or enable CO2 utilization and storage (CCUS).

The first part of the session will introduce the composition of syngas and the drivers for CO2 removal. This will be followed by an in-depth discussion of available CO2 removal technologies for high-pressure gas streams, including:

  • Chemical absorption using amine solvents
  • Physical solvent systems (e.g., Selexol™, Rectisol™)
  • Membrane separation
  • Cryogenic CO2 separation

Process setups will be compared using simulation examples built in ProMax, showcasing typical configurations and performance trade-offs. Special attention will be given to solvent selection, pressure effects, and process integration.

Access to ProMax is not needed for this webinar, which will take approximately 2 hours. The webinar is hosted over WebEx, and information on how to connect to the session will be provided after registration. For more information about a particular BRE 600: Webinar course please Contact Training.
