BR&E will be presenting a paper entitled “A Comparison of Physical Solvents for Acid Gas Removal” at the 87th Annual GPA Convention in Grapevine on March 3, 2008. This paper compares the acid gas removal ability, required equipment, and power requirements for the four physical solvents DEPG, Methanol, NMP, and Propylene Carbonate. If you would like a copy of the paper, please submit your request to sales@bre.com to receive an electronic copy. Shortly after the GPA convention the paper will be available for download.

Hi, Lili, I'm reading this paper and want to re-do the simulaiton by myself but the details of the absorbers does not mentioned in the paper. Would you please kindly tell me the packing information(type, size, height) for the four physical solvents? Thanks and Best regards, RuoXi |

RuoXi: Thank you for your inquiry. In ProMax the number of stages is the only parameter which affects the gas treating predictions. For all cases the absorber was assumed to have 10 ideal stages. For all cases except Rectisol (Methanol) the stripper was assumed to have 6 ideal stages. For the Methanol case, the main strippers had 8 ideal stages and the water removal column had 10. To calculate the column diameters, all columns were assumed to be trayed columns with 2 ft tray spacing and 2 inch weir height, operating at 70% of flood. |
